Action Climate Change Tattenhall
ACCT was set up in January 2007, with the support of the Parish Council, to explore how our community can best make its contribution to reducing the causes of climate change.

We are concentrating on the roles of both individual households and of community organisations and businesses. Some of our projects for 2008 are to work with the local school to help progress its eco-aware plans; conducting energy surveys in selected village houses and sharing the outcomes and collect information on household carbon footprints. We are also trying to take practical initiatives with recycling and consuming issues.

The group meets every month in the Barbour Institute. We still need a few more members - there is a lot to do. We are particularly looking for volunteers with special skills in IT, finance/budgeting, writing and design - but whatever your skill we can use it wisely. This is an ACTION rather than a discussion group, although the debates are lively. The next 12 months will be busy. Do consider joining us.

In addition, there are Honorary Members who acquire this status when they reach 85 years of age or have been members for 25 years.

The Club is recognised for its very caring attitude not merely to members but to their wives and widows. A wide range of social activities each year involve the whole of this group bringing a wider spirit of friendship and support which is demonstrated in a variety of ways.

Each year the Club organises a five-day holiday. In recent years this has seen us visiting the Channel Isles, Bruges, Paris, Eire, Nottinghamshire, Berkshire and Somerset while day visits to a wide variety of national landmarks are scattered throughout the annual calendar. The monthly lunch held at Rowton Hall Hotel, Chester, brings a wide range of speakers and enables us to control the business of the Club. Two of these lunches, in May and December, are deemed "Ladies' Lunches".

Parish News Publication Dates
Produced each month, under the auspices of the Parochial Church Council, the Tattenhall & Handley Parish News has grown over the past twenty years to become the main local organ of communication for the area.  The magazine covers, first of all, ecclesiastical matters for the two parishes followed by reports on Parish Council meetings, local school activities, Police & Home Watch developments. Finally, details are published of the activities of the majority of organisations,
groups and clubs operating within the locality and an advertising section for local businesses is incorporated. The publication is controlled by an Editorial Board, chaired by the Rector of St Alban's Church. The Editor is assisted by many subscribers and willing helpers, who all give their services free, to print, collate and distribute over 1,000 free copies of the magazine each month to every household and retailer in the area.

Tattenhall Home watch Scheme
Contact Graham Marsden:
Tel: 01829 771641
graham@xxgmarsden.co.uk
Established in 2000, the scheme consists of 6 main geographical areas or 'groups' which cover the village of Tattenhall and properties in the lanes on the outskirts of the village. Each group is controlled by a group co-ordinator, assisted by a number of assistant co-ordinators who each
oversee smaller sections of houses or single streets within the group.
The Group Committee consisting of the 5 Group Co-ordinators meets regularly and, in April 2003, was responsible for over 60% of the total of approximately 1,000 properties in the area. The present thirty plus co-ordinators are linked with the Ringmaster System, run by Cheshire Police, and, internally, through a telephone and e-mail system to ensure rapid communication.
The Group Co-ordinators have divided, between themselves, the main activities involved in running the scheme in order to share the work loads involved. Day-to-day activity and communication links are the responsibility of Mr Graham Marsden to whom all communications should be addressed.
