U3A
Group
We are getting together a few volunteers to help start up a U3A Group
based in Tattenhall but involving the rural areas. There is plenty
of support from the National, Regional and Local bodies of U3A and you
do not have to lead a group to be able to help start up!
U3As are democratic, self-funded and self-managed organisations which
exist to provide education and leisure activities for men and women, no
longer in full time employment (and not intending to return to full time
employment), at minimal cost. They draw upon the knowledge,
experience, skills and enthusiasms of their members to organise interest
groups, in accordance with the wishes of the membership. U3As
offer a vast range of subjects in such diverse fields as: art,
foreign languages, music, history, gardening, crafts, archaeology,
astronomy and computing. They also offer activities such as
walking groups, luncheon clubs, bridge groups, scrabble, singing for
pleasure and line dancing. The possibilities are endless!
Anyone in the third age can join U3A. No qualifications are
required and none are given. The Third Age Trust is the
national representative body for the U3A movement in the UK (Reg.
Charity No. 288007) providing a wide range of support services to the
U3As. (www.u3a.org.uk)
If you are interested in helping to start up a U3A group in Tattenhall
please contact Hilary Scarratt on 01829 770617 or email through the
"Contact Us" page in the right column.
A notice will appear here in about 3 weeks' time giving details of a
meeting for people interested in becoming a member of a local U3A group
- please watch this space!

Tattenhall Wildlife Group
(TWIG)
The very interesting and informative TWIG newsletters are available to
read on the "Information" Page.
It could be well worth your time
having a look at the Project
Rural Matters Page (through Homewatch Page)
to see what
local issues may affect you, particularly the issue of
leaving
laptops in vehicles which can give off a bluetooth signal to a
thief who will break into your car even though you think you
have put it
well out of sight!!
The
Homewatch page (click on symbol on right above) is updated as and when
information comes in. However, the Project Rural Matters page is
updated weekly with new important
information from the
local Police.
There is also information on
Cheshire Police
and how you can
give them your views.
From the Homewatch page you will be able
to access the
'Lost
Dog' page
which will show any missing animal, plus those
that
the Dog Warden is
trying to find caring homes for - please
have a look. Occasionally
there is also information on cats
and dogs found.

have
to worry
about not
knowing anyone who will be there because
everyone is given a
warm welcome and can join in with our discussions on local subjects amongst many
other topics! We also have games to play
if you want.
A book-swap scheme is now available at these
mornings.
